Blog Andreea - P3.1 C&S
It starts with the feeling of not knowing what to do for the school assignment.

"take what you learned from the previous project" (P 2.3 Commercial)

What did I do:
I ventured out to the canal with a boat, sketching portraits of passersby in exchange for conversation alone. At the conclusion of the project, I even shared the publication I created, featuring the process and the portraits of those I had drawn.
(Figure 1)

- There, I learned to get out of my comfort zone
- Doing what I like, even if it makes me uncomfortable, helps me change and grow

"Which space/location you want to focus on?"
"Develop a work in a way that makes it clear how you build it so it relates to a system"
"Stay open to what people need"

For a while, I still did not know what to do, but to start somewhere, I started asking my peers questions:

"What don't you like in the academy"
Was for some reason my first question.

I got a few answers, but what do I do now with them?

Start a reserach proposal.

>>Location: WdKA
>>For who do I wanna make something?
WdKA students

>>What do I like?
Many things :) but the relatable ones for this assignment are designing, talking and observing people

>>What do you wish you heard more of?
teacher's opinion I guess?? what do they think about certain things?

*how about i make a game about student complains

>>What can I do for the students from WdKA?

>> What are the pros and cons of the academy? It can be fun for the 1st years to get to know the academy through a game that consists of annoying things happening within it.

(edit)
*how about i make a game about student complaints AND TEACHERS
that's interesting and it is something I wish i heard more of

How to make the ranking?

Interview people, play the game with them, and ask questions about the annoyance index - how annoying do they find the situation?

(Research by Questioning and Collaborative Participatory Research; Methods in the Making: Research Methods. (2022). WdKA)

System: Political

Have political prompts on my cards

I created my first card game prototype, with scenarios I noticed while doing Participatory Observation in the school. I also printed blank cards for users to input new situations, aiding in the game's development.
After testing, I adjusted the index, depending on how different the answers were

Feedback users:
- very relatable and fun
- they feel validated
- funny (for Jasper to see so many complain about PS :))
For a long time I was doing testing (fig 15) - just play the game with students. But I also needed teacher situation so I started asking them as well.
By doing many tests with the students I was able to have a more accurate annoyance index

Finding available teachers to test and play with wasn't easy but once i did Education Station told me to reach them up!

Was so cool for me!

Education Station is interested in the game and would like me to finish it!

Fig 16 I am invited to a meeting with ES
The meeting I had with Evita and the rest of the teachers went very well! (15/11/2024)

I explained the concept, followed by playing the game. Afterwards, I encouraged them to share any situations that could help in refining the game. The feedback indicated that it's a delightful tool, beneficial for tutors to better understand their students, as well as for management to gain insights into both user groups!

Another feedback was to separate the two categories: teachers and students. I can't really compare the two - and so I did. I made a Student edition and a Teacher Edition

All the feedback encouraged me to test and try to polish the game as much as I could.
The more I was testing with teachers, the better I was feeling.

I was directed to Dani Hefter and the dime as well. Una did not answer tho.

Created a forms that I sent in the WA groups to student to hopefully get more situations to add in my game (Fig 11, 12, 13, 14)

Daniella's feedback was good.
She encouraged me to see the value of the game first before others.
Nice game! She finds it very nice and it is curious to see it done

Reprinted the cards with the new situations, index and design that clearly defines which is for students and for teachers. (Figure 21)

Today (11/12/2024), while I was printing, I shared with Jasper—one of my earliest testers (Figure 6)—that I am nearly finished with the game. He was very enthusiastic and showed me that he had shared my game (early prototype) on his social media, which received some exciting feedback. It was heartwarming to witness! (Figure 22, 23, 24)

For now this is it! I have to hand in my reflection :) But so far so good I would say.

Through the Collaborative Research and Research by Questioning ( I always asked questions after finishing the game ) method, I’ve learned that people appreciate feeling validated and enjoy reading relatable content—of course— and that they open more quickly when they read about this relatable stuff. More importantly, I’ve realised that working within a structured system is incredibly helpful - social system. While this may seem obvious, I didn’t fully understand its importance until taking these classes and receiving feedback. Despite being shy and nervous, I pushed myself to approach my teachers, which ultimately led to catching the attention of Education Station. This connection might even lead to future collaboration on designing and creating tools for schools.

My journey doesn’t end here. I plan to reconnect with Education Station to share updates about the new prototype and explore ways to further develop the game. I’m driven to support the community—teachers and students alike—by addressing small frustrations, amplifying their voices, and offering them a greater sense of validation.

Thanks!
After testing more with people, I realised that the game doesn't really fit the Political System anymore but the Social one because it helps with bringing the community (WdKA) together
